Meet Kim Shope

Kim Shope

President

Professional Project Manager and Fundraising Consultant, Kim Shope launched From the Ground Up! to focus her organizational and executive skills on managing business-critical events with high-value audiences.

Before the creation of From the Ground Up! Kim gained experience in State and Federal government as well as the private sector. For more than four years, she served on the immediate staff of a two-term North Carolina Governor, coordinating his schedule, handling logistical arrangements, working with Cabinet Secretaries, serving on the Governor’s Office event committee and led the State Employees United Way Campaign.

Following her Governor’s Office experience, Kim worked closely with executive leadership teams in the corporate sector. As Executive Assistant and Office Manager for Presidents and Vice Presidents of such corporations as the Research Triangle Foundation, Medco Research (now King Pharmaceuticals) and Covance Biotechnology Services (now Merck), Kim began her event and project management “career” with on the job training.

Kim devoted many hours of community service to the North Carolina State Capitol Foundation. She served six years on the Foundation Board as 2nd Vice President and Executive Committee member as well as Chair of the Marketing Committee. Along with committee members, she spearheaded the bi-annual State Capitol Society Ball, a formal black tie fundraiser. Kim represented her position well in co-hosting the 2008 Society Ball for the Capitol with former North Carolina Governor James G. Martin.

Other non-profits that have benefitted from Kim’s generosity and her team of experts include The Frankie Lemmon School, The Summit House, Hillyer Memorial Christian Church, and The Green Chair Project. For a complete list see “Community Involvement” under About Us/Our Approach.
